William is a principal in the firm of Maxey Law Offices with his brother, Bevan Maxey, having previously practiced with the founder of the firm, his father, Carl Maxey. His focus of practice is that of civil litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, and medical negligence law. He is married and has three children. William is a Spokane native, graduated from Lewis & Clark High School and the University of Oregon (1971 BA). He is a graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law (JD 1975), he has been in private practice for over 30 years. He presently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Martin Luther King Family Outreach Center where he formerly served as president to that Board for two years. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Association for Justice/Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice/American Trial Lawyers Association and has had occasion to serve as a judge at Gonzaga University Moot Court competitions in past years. William was a Spokane County Bar Association Trustee and Officer including President (1999-2004), member of Initiative for Diversity Governing Council for (2006-2008), is currently a member of the Washington State Bar Foundation Board of Trustees; Co-Chair and Member of the SCBA Diversity Section from 2004 to present; also presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington & Idaho; and the Spokane Regional Sports Commission Board of Directors, a Board which looks to lead and promote economic and community development through sports.
